I’ve been working in the DRC for the last few months and I have to say it’s been exciting in so many different ways.
One of the things I was most nervous about was how I was going to make the right decisions in a market and company that was new to me. Good decision making is not by chance. You must have a deep understanding of the situation and not jump to quick conclusions about whether something is good or bad. Situations are very rarely black or white. Ask lots of questions. I speak to lots of different people, no matter their job or experience, to get a better picture of a problem I am trying to address.
Last but not the least trust your gut. It’s important to listen to that inner voice and believe me if something feels wrong, it usually is. So far this has helped me make some really important decisions over the last few months.
